About Huddersfield Choral Youth Choirs

An Introduction

We introduce young people to the joy of singing, to share with them the life enhancing qualities of making music together.

The award winning Huddersfield Choral Youth Choirs have been offering these opportunities since 1986, bringing young singers together and gaining a reputation for musical excellence. Singing as part of a group, rehearsing, learning together and performing offers the opportunity for young people to make friends and develop their confidence and self-esteem.

Under the skilled guidance and encouragement of Musical Director Alison North MBE, the Youth Choirs’ musical repertoire is eclectic and the standard of singing and music-making continues to impress and delight audiences. The Choirs regularly perform in the local area and beyond; they rehearse on Wednesday evenings in term-time at Lindley Methodist Church. The choirs rehearse in three sections, performing both separately and together.

The Choirs perform frequently at a variety of events throughout the year, from small to high-profile concerts, and often as guests of prestigious parent choir, the Huddersfield Choral Society. Recently, they have also enjoyed success at competitions and appeared on TV.
